Key Biscayne (Fla.) Police Officer Nelia Real remained hospitalized Monday, but doctors say her prognosis is good. Officer Real was shot in the neck late Thursday, when she pulled up to an accident scene on the Florida Turnpike.

After realizing his partner Officer Jarred Slocum was down, Officer McFarland relied on the "dummy drag," a technique he learned at the police academy. Officer McFarland holstered his sidearm, moved into the line of fire, hooked his arms around his partner, and dragged him to safety.

Video: Shot Calif. Cop Dragged to Safety by Partner
Dramatic footage captured by a news cameraman shows the officer holding a bleeding neck wound after being struck. The officer runs from the cover of a vehicle and collapses near a chain-link fence. The second officer then runs toward his partner and drags him to safety.

An El Cajon (Calif.) Police officer was shot in the neck after responding to a home where a caller reported a man with a gun. After the man fired on responding officers, one officer pulled his wounded partner to safety.
