The Office of Justice Programs' Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) on Thursday released the Fentanyl Safety Recommendations for First Responders companion training video Fentanyl: The Real Deal. The video was produced by U.S. Customs and Border Protection to help first responders protect themselves when the presence of fentanyl is suspected or encountered on the job.

New Mexico Couple Accused of Training Children for Mass Attack Targeted Hospital
Prosecutors in Taos County (NM)—citing interviews with the 11 children found to be malnourished and abused at a compound in the New Mexico desert earlier this month—said in court documents that the couple who were arrested had targeted an Atlanta hospital for attack.

Video: Police Arrest 156 Suspected Gang Members in "Operation Triple Beam Colorado"
The Denver Post reported that among those arrested in "Operation Triple Beam Colorado" was Lester Bell. Reportedly a member of the Gangster Disciples, Bell has been charged in a 2000 homicide in the San Diego area—he allegedly beat his victim to death with a baseball bat.

Minnesota Airport Police Apprehend Federal Air Marshal on Plane
A federal air marshal reportedly "flashed a gun in flight," prompting police to remove him from the plane upon arrival at the Twin Cities airport and to handcuff him on the tarmac along with a fellow marshal, authorities said Tuesday.

Border Patrol Names Carla Provost to Lead the Agency
Carla Provost — who has been serving as acting chief of the Border Patrol — will take over as leader of the agency on a permanent basis, Customs and Border Protection announced on Thursday. Provost will become the first woman to lead the Border Patrol in its 94-year history.
