A motor officer with the California Highway Patrol was seriously injured when he collided with the back of a van travelling in the left lane of a highway on Tuesday morning.
According to Fox News, the officer was thrown from his motorcycle after he struck the back of an SUV.
Several Good Samaritans—including a nurse—stopped to help the injured officer until other first responders arrived on the scene.
The officer was transported to a nearby hospital where he underwent surgery for major injuries to his legs. The officer—whose name has not been released—is listed in stable condition.
