NYPD Acquires Electric Chevy Volts

The New York Police Department added 50 Chevrolet Volts to its fleet as part of a fleet greening initiative by the city. The Volt will be the first electric vehicle used by the NYPD, which also uses electric scooters and golf carts. The vehicles are part of an effort to reduce air pollution, carbon emissions, and gasoline consumption.

Officers with the LAPD's bicycle unit will begin field-testing Currie Technologies' IZIP Express electric bicycles at special events to determine their viability for patrol.
