Police Chief Charlie Beck will have to take questions, in a formal deposition, from the attorney for the family of 25-year-old Ezell Ford, who was killed by police in August. Ford's parents are suing the city, the department and the officers involved. The trial is set for November.

Michigan Officer Sues Agency Over Suspension, Allegations of Brutality

Inkster, Mich., police officer Phillip (Chuck) Randazzo, 44, is suing his employer after it released video and suspended him in connection with the highly publicized Floyd Dent arrest and subsequent allegations of police brutality, according to the complaint filed Monday in Wayne County Circuit Court.

Muslim Woman Sues Michigan Agency for Making Her Remove Hijab for Photos

Maha Aldhalimi of Wayne County said that a police officer arrested her on Sept. 15, 2004, after spotting her in a no-parking zone outside a Wal-Mart store in Dearborn. After checking her license and registration, the officer said she "had a warrant for her arrest for an unpaid parking violation."

Cleveland Officer Can Sue City for Wrongful Suspension Over Facebook Posts

U.S. District Judge Christopher Boyko, in an order issued Monday, wrote that Sgt. Johnny Hamm has a "plausible claim for deprivation" of his right to due process, if what Hamm alleges is true. Boyko wrote that the complaint over the Facebook posts was lodged by police Chief Calvin Williams and decided at a disciplinary hearing that was also presided over by the chief.

Kohr and his wife are suing the coffee giant, claiming that a lid popped off the cup of coffee he ordered at the Starbucks on Peace Street and the cup folded in on itself. They are seeking $50,000, including damages, attorney fees and medical costs.

Massachusetts State Police Sued in Shooting of Mentally Ill Man

The complaint, filed by Justiniano's younger sister Damaris Justiniano against Colonel Timothy P. Alben, the head of the Massachusetts State Police, and the involved trooper, a 25-year veteran, alleges that Alben failed to provide the agency with "policies, procedures and equipment allowing citizens with mental health crises to be treated through humane, nonlethal means."
