Greene County (N.C.) Sheriff's deputy David Jennings Dawson III was killed when his cruiser left the road while responding to another deputy who had asked for assistance. The 21-year-old deputy swerved and left the roadway on Highway 903 at Crowfoot Road, about three miles south of Snow Hill.
