Retired Chicago Officer Shoots, Kills Carjacking Suspect
"The retired Chicago Police officer was able to fire shots, striking the offender in the upper body. The offender was taken to Mercy Hospital [where he died.] The other two suspects were apprehended, and area south detectives are handling the investigation," Sgt. Dallas Officer Dies from Tuesday Shooting, Wounded Officer Recovering
Police say the other officer shot in the Tuesday incident, Crystal Almeida, is still in critical condition. She and a Home Depot employee also wounded in the incident are expected to survive.

New Arizona Law Provides Officers with PTSD Treatment
HB 2502 was drafted in response to the suicide of Phoenix Officer Craig Tiger and titled the “The Officer Craig Tiger Act.” In 2012 Tiger shot and killed a subject who was assaulting him and his partner as well as other citizens in a north Phoenix park with a club. He attempted suicide exactly one year to the date of the shooting. He later committed suicide in 2014. It is believed his death was the result of undiagnosed and untreated PTSD.

Deputy James Kirk Jr. died at Springs Memorial Hospital after collapsing during the training event at the sheriff’s office firing range. He died from what appears to be a medical condition, Sheriff Barry Faile said.
