GoFundMe Removes Pages Raising Funds for Accused Cop Killer
In the quoted correspondence GoFundMe says the campaigns for the accused cop killer violate the company’s policy against fundraising for the defense of people charged with violent crimes and they have been removed.
GoFundMe has responded to a complaint from the Fraternal Order of Police Ohio and has removed fundraising pages for accused cop killer Rodney Hinton Jr.
Rodney Hinton Jr. is the father of Ryan Hinton who was killed by Cincinnati Police Thursday May 1, 2025. Police say Ryan Hinton, 18, pointed a semi-auto pistol at a police officer who fatally shot him. Ryan Hinton was a suspect in the theft of a vehicle.
Rodney Hinton’s Jr. is facing aggravated murder in the Friday May 2 death of retired deputy Larry Henderson of the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office. Deputy Henderson was directing traffic in Cincinnati when he was run down by Rodney Hinton Jr., officials say.
A Facebook post from FOP Ohio quotes correspondence from GoFundMe representative Emily Barson to FOP Ohio President Jay McDonald. In the quoted correspondence Barson tells McDonald that the campaigns for the accused cop killer violate the company’s policy against fundraising for the defense of people charged with violent crimes and they have been removed.
