Ohio Fraternal Order of Police members are demanding that the fundraising site GoFundMe remove all sites raising money for accused cop killer Rodney Hinton Jr.
Hinton is charged with aggravated murder in the killing of Deputy Larry Henderson of the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.
Henderson was working traffic in Cincinnati at the time of his death.
Rodney Hinton Jr.’s 18-year-old son Ryan was killed Thursday by a Cincinnati Police officer. Rodney Hinton Jr. had just left a viewing of video showing the shooting of his son before he ran down Deputy Henderson, police say.
Ryan Hinton was a grant theft auto suspect who pointed a semi-automatic pistol with an extended magazine at the officer before he was fatally shot, according to Cincinnati Police.
Queen City FOP #69 President Ken Kober said in a press release, “[Rodney Hinton’s] heinous and cowardly act should not be rewarded and celebrated like it is right now on GoFundMe. On behalf of all law enforcement officers, we demand that GoFundMe stop honoring and profiting from a cop killer who taunted deputies at his arraignment.”
Ohio FOP President Jay McDonald added, “This is absolutely outrageous to fundraise off of the assassination of a law enforcement officer. The 23,000 members of the Fraternal Order of Police Ohio demand that GoFundMe take these appeals down immediately.”
FOP Ohio said in its statement that there are dozens of fundraising appeal for Rodney Hinton Jr. on GoFundMe.
