A South Fulton, Georgia, police lieutenant was killed Tuesday (April 15, 2025) in a head-on crash.
Georgia Lieutenant Killed in Head-on Patrol Vehicle Crash
Official say Lt. Helio Garcia was driving his department Ford SUV when an Infiniti QX70 crossed into his lane and crashed head-on into the police vehicle.

Lt. Helio Garcia of the South Fulton (Georgia) Police Department was killed on duty in a patrol vehicle crash Tuesday night.

Official say Lt. Helio Garcia was driving his department Ford SUV when an Infiniti QX70 crossed into his lane and crashed head-on into the police vehicle.
Both Garcia and the other driver were rushed to a local hospital. Law enforcement sources told FOX 5 that Garcia's fellow officers took him to the hospital and carried him into the emergency room. Garcia did not survive his injuries.
South Fulton Police Chief Keith Meadows said that Garcia was married and had two daughters and one son.
The Georgia Department of Public Safety said on Facebook that the other driver was hospitalized with serious injuries.
The Georgia State Patrol's Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT-C) responded to the scene and is conducting a thorough investigation.
Charges are pending upon the completion of the investigation.
