Florida Deputy Wounded, Homicide Suspect Killed by SWAT Team

A double homicide suspect who reportedly shot and wounded a Gadsden County, Florida, Sheriff’s deputy was killed by a SWAT team Friday morning.

The Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office reports that the suspect shot four people during a gas station robbery Thursday night, killing two people, according to WTXL.

At 3:25 a.m. Friday the suspect’s vehicle was located by Florida Highway Patrol after a license plate reader hit.

 Six minutes later Department of Agriculture Law Enforcement was behind the vehicle attempting a high-risk stop. The suspect fled, and a pursuit was initiated. The suspect fired shots at FHP Troopers during the pursuit, officials say.

Shortly before 4 a.m. the suspect reportedly shot and wounded a Suwannee County Sheriff’s deputy. The deputy’s body armor was hit as was the deputy’s foot. The deputy reportedly returned fire but it is unknown if the suspect was hit.

The wounded deputy is in stable condition at a hospital in Gainesville.

At 9 a.m., the Gadsden County Sheriff's Office reported the suspect had been killed during a shootout with SWAT in Suwannee County.
