“Accidental” Death of San Antonio Officer Now Ruled a Suicide

Officials say the officer was under investigation by the Rockport, Texas, Police for invasive visual recording of a teen inside a bathroom at a Rockport motel.

The Tuesday Dec. 10 death of a San Antonio Police officer, which was originally reported as caused by an accidental discharge outside of active shooter training, has been ruled a suicide.

Officials say Officer William Kasberg was under investigation by the Rockport, Texas, Police for invasive visual recording of a teen inside a bathroom at a Rockport motel, KSAT reports.

The incident happened Nov. 14 and involved a relative of Kasberg’s girlfriend, investigators say. The offense was reported to Rockport on Nov. 25.

“On December 9, 2024, detectives with the Rockport Police Department contacted Kasberg, who indicated he would agree to speak with detectives in person about our case at a later time,” the news release from RPD states.
