Texas Constable and Daughter Killed in Crash Involving “Impaired” Suspect

The deputy constable's vehicle was struck from behind by a Mazda driven by a 23-year-old man. He stayed at the scene. Houston Police say he was impaired.

A Harris County (Texas) Precinct 5 deputy constable and her daughter were killed in a fiery crash early Friday morning.

Deputy Constable Katherine Hutson, 46, was working extra employment duties, providing a police presence for road improvements on Interstate 10 at the time of the crash, the constable's office told Houston Public Radio in an e-mail.

Deputy Hutson’s 7-year-old daughter Kasey was also in the vehicle and killed in the crash.

Hutson’s vehicle was struck from behind by a Mazda driven by a 23-year-old man. He stayed at the scene. Houston Police say he was impaired, WYMT reports.

The incident is being investigated by the Houston Police Department, while possible criminal charges are being pursued by the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.
