An Illinois State Police trooper was killed Friday afternoon when he was involved in a crash while working traffic duty on a motorcycle.
Trooper Corey Thompsen, 28, was in Champaign County finishing a traffic enforcement detail when his motorcycle was hit by a truck at an intersection.
He was rushed to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.
The driver of the truck, Helen Torres, 32, of Thomasboro, Illinois, was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Torres was cited for failing to yield the right of way at a stop intersection and with no valid driver's license, CBS Chicago reports.
Thompsen served with the State Police for five years. He is survived by his wife and parents.
