Seattle Police officers pulled a seriously injured man off of train tracks on the night of Oct. 7 just as a train arrived.
The incident began when officers responded to a 9:16 p.m. call about a man “experiencing a mental health crisis,” who was sitting on a ledge high above the tracks.
Officers arrived and tried to talk him off the ledge while dispatchers tried to stop all incoming trains.
Not all of the trains could be stopped.
And the man reportedly slipped and fell 25 feet onto rocks, suffering serious injuries.
“(Officers) on the lower platform ran across the tracks to rescue the man while a train approached them at high speeds. An officer dragged the man to safety, risking his life, with only seconds to spare,” the department said on Facebook.
The 57-year-old man sustained multiple fractures from the fall. He was treated by the Seattle Fire Department and transported to Harborview Medical Center in critical
