Jacksonville Corrections Officer Bradley McNew was shot and killed Saturday while trying to stop a domestic violence incident at a gas station.

Demaurea Grant, 29, was arrested in Gastonia, North Carolina, on charges of murder, possession of a gun by a convicted felon and other charges. He will be returned to Jacksonville to face the charges, JaxToday reports.
Officer Bradley McNew was shot to death Saturday after intervening in an argument between a man and woman at a Northside truck stop, Sheriff T.K. Waters said. Officer McNew was off duty at the time of the incident.
Action News Jax reports Grant is a convicted felon with a lengthy history of violent crime.
