During the impact of Hurricane Milton, a 911 call was received after a tree crashed into a single-story home in Tampa. The home was occupied by 15 people, including multiple children.
Tampa Police Officers, who were taking shelter less than two miles away at the time, took the first opportunity they had respond to the home as soon as there was a break in the storm.

Officers were able to get all occupants out of the home safely. They were transported to the closest shelter. One officer took the time to ensure the main power to the home was turned off before leaving.
"Every member of this department is committed to the safety of our community," Chief Lee Bercaw said in a press release. "The swift actions taken by these officers during a break in the storm bands provided this family with a sense of safety in a time of fear and uncertainty."
