A police officer was shot and wounded while responding to a home invasion in north Houston Tuesday morning, according to the Houston Police Department.
Uniformed officers responded to calls of a home invasion after two men forced their way into a home, Houston Public Media reports.
A woman and a young child were inside the house when the two men entered. Two officers responded to the scene after a neighbor called 911 to report the home invasion.
The wounded officer, a nine-year veteran of the police department, is in stable condition and in good spirits, Police Chief Noe Diaz said during a press conference.
