A Princeton, Texas, police officer was shot while responding to an assault call early Thursday morning, police said in a press release.
Officials said the officer was in stable condition Thursday morning, but more information about his condition was not released, WFAA reports.
Police responded to reports of an assault around 3:02 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, at a 7-Eleven. An officer located the suspect, near Princeton City Hall, shortly after the assault was reported to police.
The suspect allegedly attacked the officer with a weapon, leading to both men being shot, the release said.
The suspect was also taken to the hospital and is in stable condition, police said.
