Two NYPD sergeants were shot Thursday afternoon in the Lower East Side while pursuing a robbery suspect, law enforcement sources told the New York Post.
One was shot in the leg. The other was shot in the groin. They were transported to a local hospital.
Authorities have a suspect in custody, and have also recovered a gun, the sources told the Post.
The NYPD confirmed that officers responded to a 911 call for a robbery on Canal Street at about 4:15 p.m., but gave no further details.
