Man Fatally Shot by Officers in Milwaukee Near Republican Convention Site

Five police officers from Columbus, Ohio, fatally shot a man early Tuesday afternoon just west of downtown Milwaukee, three law enforcement sources told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Witnesses told WISN 12 News two homeless men were fighting in King Park, and one of them pulled a knife out. Five officers reportedly shot him.

The reportedly homeless man who was killed was well-known in the neighborhood, several witnesses told the Journal Sentinel.

Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm was at the location. He or a top deputy typically respond in person to scenes of officer-involved shootings.
