Nye County, Nevada, Sheriff Joe McGill went on Facebook earlier this week to thank a “private citizen” for coming to the aid of a deputy.

The Nye County Sheriff’s Office reports that Deputy Ruesch responded to a disturbance near a casino Tuesday morning.

After arriving on the scene, the deputy “became engaged in a physical altercation with a male.”

A civilian saw the struggle and stopped to assist the deputy.

“With the help of the private citizen, Deputy Ruesch was able to take the male into custody without injury to himself or the suspect,” the sheriff’s office said.

“Sheriff McGill and his staff want to publicly thank this private citizen for coming to the aid of Deputy Ruesch. This selfless act by the private citizen helped bring this incident to a peaceful end,” the sheriff’s office said.
