Ohio Officer Shot in Vest, Suspect Killed

The officer was not publicly identified. He was not seriously injured, police union leaders said. He was transported in stable condition to an area hospital.

A Columbus Police officer was shot Sunday. The officer’s body armor stopped the bullet, and the suspect was killed by return fire from law enforcement.

The suspect identified as Ali Hamsa Yusuf, 22, was transported to hospital emergency department, where he was pronounced dead at 6:57 p.m., the coroner's office said.

Officers were tracking the suspect after a shooting at an Amazon facility in West Jefferson, Ohio.
