A Vermont State Trooper involved in a serious accident last week on Interstate 89 remains in critical condition as officials provided an update on the status of his injuries.
According to a post from the Vermont Troopers' Association, Cpl. Eric Vitali suffered a traumatic brain injury as well as spinal fractures and a pelvis fracture in a crash with an unoccupied fire truck in Bethel, NBC 5 reports.
Officials said Vitali's doctors have indicated that the next 72 hours will be critical in determining the outcome of his recovery.
Vitali is married with two young boys.
