Florida Deputy Rescues Injured Bobcat

A Lee County (Florida) Sheriff’s Deputy spotted an injured bobcat on the side of the road January 7 and decided to rescue the 30-pound predator.

Deputy Vincent Lopez put on heavy gloves and used a blanket to protect himself as he went on hands on with the cat, Fox 29 reports,

“Due to the bobcat’s injuries, the animal was docile and surrendered to the help the deputy was providing,” the Lee County Sheriff’s Office told McClatchy News in an email.

The bobcat was transferred to the Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW) in Lee County and is expect to recover. It’s believed the animal was hit by a vehicle.
