Honolulu Police Chief Arthur “Joe” Logan said in a news conference Monday night that an attempted murder suspect, Sydney Tafokitau, was killed, and two officers were in The Queen’s Medical Center.

The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reported that a bullet grazed one officer’s head, and another officer was shot in the stomach.

Logan said attempted murder and carjacking suspect Tafokitau, 44, was involved in a chase from Kapahulu to the North Shore for several hours on Monday afternoon, Spectrum Local News reports.

Officials said plainclothes officers attempted Monday morning to apprehend Tafokitau in a stolen vehicle in Kalihi when he fired multiple times at their unmarked vehicle, Civil Beat reports.
