The officer was reportedly punched and had objects thrown at his head. He suffered minor injuries and was treated and released at a local hospital, police said in a press release.
The officer's body camera footage has been released on the Milford PD's Facebook.
There were reportedly multiple vehicles and at least 100 spectators at the scene.
The crowd was setting off fireworks, including M-80s, some were thrown at the police vehicle, which was damaged.
