A man resisting arrest while one arm was handcuffed dragged a Hillsborough County (Florida) Sheriff’s deputy 49 feet Monday night, authorities say.
On December 11, 2023, at 7:15 p.m., deputies contacted Keon Hodge, 28, while attempting to serve an active warrant. Hodge pulled away and began resisting. Deputies used a single drive stun, which was ineffective. A second TASER deployment was also ineffective. Hodge, who had one handcuff already placed, dragged a deputy approximately 49 feet and fled westbound on foot, the sheriff’s office said.
Hodge was spotted by an aviation unit as he ran into a storage unit.
He was taken into custody after a K-9 was deployed, video from the incident shows.
"When it comes to teamwork, it couldn't be better displayed than what these deputies showed," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “After this man violently rejected the first attempt at his arrest, he now will face additional consequences for his despicable actions."
Hodge faces multiple charges, including battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting an officer with violence.
