A chief deputy of the Simpson County (Kentucky) Sheriff’s Office was shot and seriously wounded Saturday evening while trying to arrest a suspect for attempted murder.
“Simpson County Sheriff’s Office acknowledges that Chief Deputy Brad Harper was shot while trying to arrest a subject for attempted murder,” the agency said on a Facebook post.
The incident happened around 5:10 pm, according to the Kentucky State Police. Officials say deputies were looking for a suspect who was involved in a vehicle pursuit that ended in Allen County.
Chief Deputy Harper is reportedly stable in the hospital.
The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene by the Allen County Coroner, KSP told WBKO.
