Ohio Officer Critically Wounded in Gunfight

Multiple officers arrived at the scene, and shots were exchanged between officers and the suspect.

A Columbus, OH, police officer was shot in the leg and transported to the hospital in critical condition Wednesday morning after a gunfight that killed the suspect. The officer’s condition has reportedly improved to stable.

Columbus police Sgt. Joe Albert told the Dispatch that police received a call about a possible robbery attempt in a parking lot.

Multiple officers arrived at the scene, and shots were exchanged between officers and the suspect.

A Columbus officer was hit in the leg and taken to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center. The officer was in critical and later in stable condition, Albert said.

The suspect, 29, died at the hospital.
