A longtime Dallas police officer died after heading home from work Thursday evening.
DPD told Fox4 that Officer Christopher Jackson, a 31-year veteran of the force who was assigned to Southwest Patrol, died due to a medical condition.
Police say the 58-year-old officer collapsed near a parking lot after returning to his apartment complex following his shift.
An apartment employee and officers performed CPR while waiting for Dallas Fire Rescue to respond.
The officer was then taken to Methodist Dallas Medical where he was declared dead.
