GA Officer Shot in Head Responding to Domestic at Hotel
Officers said they initially responded to the hotel at 10:30 p.m. for a domestic fight and the first officer on the scene, Officer Rivers, was confronted by a man with a gun. Officer Rashad Rivers and the suspect exchanged fire.

Officer Rashad Rivers of the Covington (GA) Police Department is recovering in a local hospital after being shot during response to a domestic.

A Covington, GA, police officer is in the hospital after being shot in the head during a gunfight at a hotel Tuesday night while responding to a domestic. The suspect was killed.
Covington Police identified the officer Wednesday as Officer Rashad Rivers and said he is currently at Grady Hospital and in stable condition. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation identified the deceased suspect as 23-year-old Treyvorius Stodhill, 11 Alive reports.
Officers said they initially responded to the hotel at 10:30 p.m. for a domestic fight and the first officer on the scene, Officer Rivers, was confronted by a man with a gun. Officer Rivers and the suspect exchanged fire.
"A second responding officer arrived on the scene and saw , who was pointing a gun at the officer who was down. Stodghill was shot and killed by a Covington Police Officer during the incident," a GBI release said.
“Officer Rivers is currently at Grady Hospital and thankfully, he is awake, alert and in good spirits. He is scheduled to undergo surgery tomorrow (Thursday, May 25) on his jaw to repair the damage from the gunshot wound,” the Covington PD reported on Facebook.
“Officer Rashad Rivers joined the City of Covington family in September 2022, and after graduating the police academy and earning the “Leadership Award” for his class, he was ceremoniously sworn in to serve and protect Covington on January 3, 2023,” the Covington PD said.
