Seattle Cops Sitting Pretty on New Harleys

Members of the Seattle Police De-partment’s motorcycle unit can now say they ride “hogs” on duty since the agency began leasing Harley-Davidson Road Kings.

Seven of the new bikes, boasting 1,450-cc engines, are already in ser-vice. The entire Seattle motorcycle unit should be outfitted with their own Harleys by this summer.

The city expects to save $40,000 a year by leasing motorcycles from Harley-Davidson rather than buying motorcycles from another manufac-turer and then selling them later at auction.
