The National Bike Registry (NBR), a top Internet-based bicycle registration system, announced its dedication in working with law enforcement agencies to recover lost and stolen bikes for return to their rightful owners.
Founded in 1984, NBR, whose current owner is Centric Media, not only has increased its retail presence, but has also expanded its Law Enforcement Partnership Program, offering police officers free and immediate access to its national database and the company's online Bicycle Blue Book.
As a further incentive, NBR is offering complimentary bike registrations for sworn officers and their families. In addition, NBR makes limited courtesy registrations available to law enforcement agencies, which can be used for community outreach in disadvantaged communities.
This company-police partnership has helped agencies across the country to raise funds for programs such as Helmets for Kids, Bike Safety Fairs, Police Bicycle Patrol, Scouting and Police Explorers.
According to NBR figures, more than 1,000 law enforcement agencies currently access NBR's database for registration information. The company is striving to up those numbers by increasing its profile at law enforcement events in the near future.
