New York City-based St. John’s University will provide up to $10 million in scholarship grants and other assistance to support the New York City Police Department’s efforts to create the most sophisticated and effective law enforcement agency in the nation.
Commencing September 2007, St. John’s will introduce the “NYPD Cadet Corps at St. John’s University” program. The program will recruit and enroll as many as 100 well-qualified transfer students who seek a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, providing them with up to $10,000 in annual scholarship funding that would be matched by $10,000 in tuition reimbursement offered by New York City. In addition, the University will provide $2,500 grants to incoming freshmen majoring in criminal justice to attract the very best and brightest students interested in law enforcement careers.
