Anchorage Officers Shoot, Kill Man Who Wouldn't Drop Shotgun

Police were responding to a 911 call from a woman who said she had been assaulted by her husband and had fled to a neighbor's apartment. The call came just after 4:30 a.m.

Anchorage police shot and killed a man Monday morning after he approached officers with a shotgun and wouldn't put it down, a spokeswoman said.

The shooting happened outside an apartment building in the 2800 block of West 31st Avenue in Turnagain, said police spokeswoman Marlene Lammers.
