A Toledo police officer fatally shot a 62-year-old woman described as a schizophrenic who had threatened to kill the officer with a pair of sewing scissors, the Toledo Free Press reports.
Officer Diane Chandler, a 33-year-old patrol officer certified with crisis intervention training, shot Linda Hicks multiple times.
Chandler shot the woman, after fellow officer Rebecca Kenney attempted to stun Hicks with a Taser. The less-lethal device's cartridge had malfunctioned, requiring the officer to use it in drive-stun mode.
