A gunman shot and killed four patrol officers with the Lakewood (Wash.) Police Department in a coffee shop Sunday, as they worked on laptops, the News-Tribune reports.
At 8:30 a.m., a gunman entered the Forza coffee shop, which is owned by a retired officer, and blasted away, killing the four uniformed officers. Pierce County Sheriff Ed Troyer called the shooting "an execution, no doubt" and "a targeted attack."
The officers, who were not immediately identified, are the first killed in the line of duty for the department, which was formed in 2004. The shooter has not been located.
A $10,000 reward has been offered for information leading to an arrest.
