Rookie Seattle officer Britt Sweeney is ready to return to patrol duties after watching the fatal shooting of her partner during a Halloween ambush, the Seattle Times reports.

Rookie Seattle officer Britt Sweeney is ready to return to patrol duties after watching the fatal shooting of her partner during a Halloween ambush, the Seattle Times reports.

Sweeney, 33, told the newspaper it would be a disservice to her partner if she didn't return to patrol to "fight the fight." Sweeney, just two months out of the academy, was grazed by a bullet and Timothy Brenton was killed while the two officers sat in their patrol car reviewing a vehicle stop on Halloween.

Christopher John Monfort, 41, has been charged with aggravated murder in Brenton's killing.

During the incident, Sweeney quickly radioed for help and returned fire at the shooter's fleeing car. A bullet hole was found in a car owned by Monfort.
