Seattle police have linked DNA and ballistic evidence found at the scene where Officer Tim Brenton was killed and his partner was injured in an ambush-style shooting to Christopher Montfort, SeattlePI.com reports.
Montford is now in custody, after a shootout with detectives Friday, prior to his arrest, at his apartment. Police recovered a .223-caliber rifle they say Montford used to shoot Brenton and Britt Sweeney, as the two officers discussed an Oct. 31 traffic stop in their patrol car.
Also, DNA evidence on a bandana found at the scene links Montford to an arson attack on Oct. 22 on a mobile command center and several police cruisers.
