LAPD Opens New Parker Center
The Los Angeles Police Department has formally opened its new Parker Center to replace the aging 1955 headquarters named after a former chief, as Chief William Bratton departs the top job.

The Los Angeles Police Department has formally opened its new Parker Center to replace the aging 1955 headquarters named after a former chief, as Chief William Bratton departs the top job.
Bratton presided over the opening of the new Parker Center on Saturday, the Los Angeles Times reports.
The Times provides multi-faceted coverage of the opening, including an interactive graphic, review of the L-shaped building's architecture and a column quoting Bratton as referring to the building's public art as "cow splat."
The department spent $437 million on the facility and several other buildings. The new headquarters will house 2,300 officers and staff on 10 floors.
