Former Chicago Commander Burge Convicted of Perjury

One juror said it was the testimony of Michael McDermott, a former detective who was granted immunity to testify against Burge, that sealed the conviction for him.

A jury convicted former Chicago Police Commander Jon Burge of lying under oath about police torture allegations brought by a convicted cop killer, as well as murder and robbery suspects, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

One juror said it was the testimony of Michael McDermott, a former detective who was granted immunity to testify against Burge, that sealed the conviction for him.

Jurors also cited the evidence of physical injuries to convicted cop killer Andrew Wilson.
