California City Dismantles Police Department, Fires Officers

All the 60 members of the scandal-plagued department will be laid off, and the city will contract for law enforcement services with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

The Maywood (Calif.) PD will cease operation on July 1, following a decision by the city's council to disband it after failing to contract insurance services.
