Framingham (Mass.) PD's Officer Philip Hurton was featured in the initial episode of a new medical reality show, featuring doctors performing surgery to remove a bullet from his face.

Hurton was featured on "Boston Med," which began airing Thursday on ABC. The officer needed treatment after he had tried to stop a burglary, but got shot in the face.

In the episode, doctors calmly explain to the officer's wife how they'll remove the bullet from his jaw. The cameras follow the surgeons into the operating room and show the bullet being removed. Dr. Maria Troulis is astonished about how close the officer came to death.

"It sort of makes you sit there and go wow," Troulis said.

Other Framingham officers arrive at the hospital to show morale support for their injured colleague. The surgery goes well and the officer's facial nerves should be intact.
