Two Birmingham women who posed as police officers to scam elderly people have been arrested, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday.

Two Birmingham women who posed as police officers to scam elderly people have been arrested, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday.

The women, Katina Jetuan Jones, 39, and Paula A. Youngblood, 55, are accused of swindling two Fayette County residents and one Clayton County resident. The suspects are being held in the Fayette County Jail.

Authorities gave this account of an Oct. 7 incident in north Fayette County:

Jones and Youngblood showed up at the home of an elderly woman stating they were police officers. They weren't in uniform, but they displayed "law enforcement-type badges."
