Otis (Mass.) Police Chief Roberta Sarnacki has asked her town council to retain her position as a part-time rather than full-time chief, a move that would allow the small department to purchase new cruisers, hire additional officers and upgrade training.
If the police chief role becomes full-time, the salary would move from $10,000 to $36,000. Sarnacki would need to reapply for it.
