Kane County (Utah) Sheriff's Deputy Brian Harris, who was fatally shot Thursday by a robbery suspect, leaves behind a wife and two children, reports the Associated Press.
Harris was shot about three miles east of Fredonia, Ariz., a small town just south of the Utah border. The deputy was chasing 23-year-old burglary suspect Scott Curley on foot Thursday afternoon when the suspect allegedly opened fire.
On Friday, federal and local agencies including the FBI, U.S. Marshals Service and several county sheriff's offices participated in a joint manhunt searching for Curley. Two helicopters are assisting.
Authorities received a 911 call from a woman who reported seeing a man matching Curley's description near an Airstream trailer about six miles east of Kanab, Ariz.
