Detroit Officer Claims Harassment By Fired Chief's Lieutenant Girlfriend

Detroit police officer Shanda Starks has sued the department, claiming former Chief Warren Evans' girlfriend, a lieutenant, harassed her and forced her transfer out of the Executive Protection Unit where she guarded Mayor Dave Bing.

Detroit police officer Shanda Starks has sued the department, claiming former Chief Warren Evans' girlfriend, a lieutenant, harassed her and forced her transfer out of the Executive Protection Unit where she guarded Mayor Dave Bing, the Detroit News reports.

The officer maintains Lt. Monique Patterson used a "tyrannical operating style" and used her relationship with Evans to "retaliate against and punish" Starks.

Bing fired Evans earlier this month, saying it was in part due to his relationship with a subordinate.
