POLICE-TREXPO East is delivering a solid Defensive Tactics track, featuring all new classes with some of the toughest trainers in the field. From the latest ground fighting techniques for police officers to courses on how to use a folding knife with stealth skill, this is the track you need to show your enemies you're a force to be reckoned with.
Below is a sneak peek at some of the Defensive Tactics classes offered Aug. 17-19 in Chantilly, Va.:
Ground Fighting for Police Officers (Hands On Training)
Ground Fighting for Law Enforcement will teach the officer how to strike, kick, block, break holds, and counter holds while on the ground. The officer will gain confidence fighting from the ground and also learn how to use the ground in an offensive manner. Specific concepts along with relaxation will be employed. Also, a comparison of Ground Fighting styles will be discussed as well as how to exploit weaknesses inherent in all styles. Remember, being on your back as a L.E.O. is a dangerous place. It is not like the ring. You have other concerns such as multiple assailants, their weapons, and your weapons to consider. This class will give the L.E.O. confidence to ground fight and turn a negative situation into a positive.
Presenter: Al Giusto, Topsham (Maine) Police Department
Defensive Folding Knife (Hands On Training)
This will be an informative and action-packed self-defense class where you will learn to deploy and use your folding knife with great skill. Using mock assaults, you will learn how to fight your way through attacks and come away with tangible survival tactics.
Presenters: John Holschen and Michael Warsocki, both of Insights Training Center, Inc.
