A one-time NYPD officer convicted of lying about a confrontation with a bicyclist in Times Square was given a conditional discharge, meaning he will not serve any jail time or be placed on probation, the New York Times reports.
Patrick Pogan had been facing up to four years in prison. The former officer had about a year on the job when he was videotaped shoving a Critical Mass bicyclist. The clip became a YouTube sensation and led to his April trial, where he was convicted of filing a criminal complaint that contained false statements.
Pogan won't be allowed to rejoin the department, because he's been convicted of a felony.
